On Friday, August 11, Poypoy Actub showed that he is more than just a showman when he led Imus to a 90-80 win over Muntinlupa Cagers in the OKBet-MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) Fifth Season at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.

With 22 points, three rebounds, and three assists, the 6-foot high-flyer from Kibawe, Bukidnon thrilled the full house to earn a second straight best player distinction and lift Imus SV Squad to an 11-11 record in the 29th round-robin elimination part of the tournament. Even though he did not throw down a slam dunk, he was named the game’s most valuable player for the second game in a row.

Actub’s big 31-point game on August 2, which included seven rim-rattling slams, Ten rebounds, and Nine assists in a 125-66 win over Bulacan Kuyas, showed that it wasn’t a fluke. This made him even more popular with the fans who crowded the court after the game.

Last August 2, when Imus played Bulacan, Actub did a really great job. The match ended with a score of 225-66. Actub slammed the ball down seven times at the end of his game, which really got the crowd going.

Imus has already won four games in a row and wanted to push their team to step-in in the playoffs for the Southern Division in the 29th round-robin elimination tournament.

Carlo Lastimosa had contributed 10 points for the Imus team, while Nino Caaleta, a veteran player who played with Imus, was aided by Actub, who scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Despite the fact that John Delos Santos, John Amores, and Val Acuna each scored 13 points, and despite the fact that Marco Balagtas contributed 12 points, Muntinlupa’s record dropped to 12-10 as a result of the loss.

Today, Saturday, the MPBL will be back at the Bacoor Strike Gym. At 4 p.m., Negros will play Bicol; at 6 p.m., San Juan will play Pasay; and at 8 p.m., Batangas will play Bacoor.
