Fans of basketball in the Philippines have seen the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Marikina Shoemasters become a team to be taken seriously. This team from the city of Marikina has won over fans with their skills, teamwork, and commitment to the sport. In the 2018-19 season, the MPBL Marikina Team started playing to showcase local basketball talent and give hopeful players a chance to show off their skills. The team’s management carefully chose a roster of skilled athletes to ensure a good mix of youth and experience.
The team was formerly named Marikina Moniker but later changed to Marikina Shoemaster because the city is known as the “Shoe Capital of the Philippines”.  The team has 23 players, and their head coach, Elvis Tolentino, is in charge.
Not to mention that Gerald Anderson is on their all-time list. Anderson joined the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League in May 2018 when he signed with the Marikina Shoemasters. He also played for the team in the three-on-three basketball league Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3, starting in the third tour of the 2019 President’s Cup and helping the team win their first game in the conference. They beat the 1Bataan Risers but couldn’t win any more races on the third tour.
Coach Elvis put a high value on hard work, good manners, and improving the player’s strengths and Skills. This team’s attitude of unity and hard work has made them successful on the court and earned them respect from both fans and opponents.
The MPBL Marikina Team has high hopes and goals for the future. They want to keep winning, leave a legacy of success, and get young basketball players excited about the game. With their unwavering dedication and the backing of their loyal fans, the team will be able to reach even higher goals in the future.
